With the current Covid-19 closures in place we are offering all FOG Clients some tips, to carry out during this period, so as to then avoid problems when you eventually reopen:
1) Run taps feeding to the Grease Trap several times per week to keep the flow going.
2) If you currently use an approved dosing programme continue to dose the Grease Trap, if only once a week, to keep a colony of Microbial Bacteria within the system.
By taking the above measures you can help keep the drain lines flowing/ prevent anaerobic (smelly) conditions & blockages from forming; plus the added benefit of potentially saving on unwarranted costs of needing a Pump Out when the system restarts when you reopen.

IRISH WATER ARE INVITING TENDERS FOR A NATIONWIDE FOG MONITORING PROGRAMME WITH A RESPONSE DEADLINE OF 17th FEB 2020 AND A START DATE OF JAN 1 2021.
WHAT THIS MEANS TO ALL FOOD SERVICE ESTABLISHMENTS THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY IS THAT A DEDICATED FOG PROGRAMME, IN SOME WAYS SIMILAR TO THAT WHICH HAS BEEN IMPOSED IN THE GREATER DUBLIN REGION FOR SOME 12 YEARS, WILL NOW BE IMPOSED UPON ALL OTHER COUNTIES.

We have learnt that IW intend standardising Commercial Discharge Licences nationally from May 1st 2020. At present there is a wide variance in Commercial Charges across the country based on an outdated Local Authority model meaning that Charges vary from County to County based on Local rates. These Charges will then be set at 1 Standard Rate.
